Reality as Defined.jpg

Each Utopia Descending chapter has it's own unique story and location specific mechanics that help drive the individual chapter as a unique snapshot of the Utopia Descending universe. For Utopia Descending Connecticut, we have based our local chapter using the story details found in the Utopia Descending Short Stories book number One as well as adding more of the unique and local flavor that is Connecticut. For the Connecticut chapter of Utopia Descending, the New Haven area has become one of the largest defensive focus points in the state. With oceanic rifts, the majority of the Fair Haven and West Haven area having been turned to Lost Territories, and a number of smaller shifting rifts the city of New Haven has become a hotbed of Pillar and Mega-Corp investment.

The UD-CT chapter takes place in a number of locations around Connecticut. In addition to the largest Lost Territories in CT being just outside of New Haven there are also a number of smaller pockets of rift activity around these state. These smaller pockets, while not large enough to be defined as their own Lost Territories, do require a significant volume of support and investment to keep safe. With shifting rifts opening only a few times a year, the Pillars of Connecticut can find themselves assigned to travel from detail to detail depending on the needs of the State.

In addition to each of the Mega-Corps having investments in the Connecticut region via their subsidiaries, the I.S.T.O. has invested a notable interest in attempting to organize and control the interests and activities of the Mega-Corp within the Connecticut board. Players are allowed to play members of the I.S.T.O., which will provide a more militaristic experience, with the understanding that the Pillar is also still owned by one of the Corporations. Sadly, due to the cost of Pillar reconstruction, the I.S.T.O. (traditionally a human organization) does not have the resources to outfit and support Pillar activity. Becoming a member of the I.S.T.O. does provide a more structured and militaristic experience for players, but also WILL cause a number of story situations where the interests and demands of a Corporation and the unified Earth government will come into direct conflict.  Being a member of the I.S.T.O. is, 100% of the time, asking the staff to create higher conflict and drama situations.

For technology levels the Connecticut chapter of Utopia Descending will be using high velocity NERF for firearms for the time being. We have every intent on doing occasional non-combat social events as well as high-intensity airsoft scenarios, but these events will be stand-alone and announced as such. Utopia Descending CT will be using drones, combat cars, and occasional module simulation space for use of the Piloting skill. Utopia Descending CT will be providing all weapons needed for engaging in ranged, melee, and aether combat. Aether combat will be using incredible high lumen flashlights as locational markers for hits (bright enough to be seen during the day).

For Story purposes Utopia Descending CT will be focusing heavily on adventure, parallel universe theory, non-euclidean threats, and political corporate espionage as its primary focuses. Using dark humor, high visual content, and encouraging player steering and plot submissions our intent is to bridge the line between a very gritty and dark futuristic take on corporate conflict and blending high intensity combat and toyetics tempered with occasional dark humor.  The writers for Utopia Descending CT thematically will be comparable and inspired by works from authors such as Stephen King, H.P. Lovecraft, Douglas Adams,  and William Gibson.

Content Notes

The Imagine Nation Collective believes in building communities that game instead of building gaming communities. With that in mind you will find many social events, online gaming groups, and excuses for our community to come together as friends.
Our chapter only runs roughly 5 full events a year with micro social events between.

—  General Focus  —

Utopia Descending: Connecticut takes much of its inspiration from New England themed mythology while adding a twist of the strange, bizarre, and creepy into the modern science-fiction fantasy world of Utopia Descending. Our chapter focuses heavily on character versus environment experiences with an opt-in option for social and political character to character drama, conflict, and competition. With the corporations working through their local sub companies, participants in Utopia Descending Connecticut will juggle marketing options, a reality TV feel, as well as engage in real time contact safe combat.

Our local interests focus heavily on the social community aspect of our local chapter with the intent of organizing a number of outings and events including both in character and out of character engagements. In the end, our focus is to provide a great community that plays a game, not to provide a game that people cling to as a community.
